Foreclosures fall 16%

Metro Detroit properties heading into foreclosure fell 16% in March compared with the same time a year ago, according to a Thursday report.

Default Research of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., said Oakland and Macomb counties had 650 foreclosure notices and Wayne County had 2,000. Wayne County had the highest foreclosure rate at 3.59%, followed by Macomb with 2.49% and Oakland with 1.6%.

The company said the hardest-hit cities in Wayne County were Detroit, with 1,108 notices of sale filed, Redford with 106, Westland with 90 and Dearborn with 69.

In Macomb County, Warren had 131, Sterling Heights had 66, Roseville had 64, St. Clair Shores had 58 and Eastpointe had 55.

In Oakland County, Southfield led with 76, Pontiac followed with 54, then Oak Park with 40, Farmington Hills, 33, and White Lake with 32.
