Regular pickup of garbage and recycling will occur on Wednesday, December 24 and on Wednesday, December 31. Garbage and recycling will not be picked up on Thursday, December 25 due to the Christmas Day holiday and on Thursday, January 1 due to the New Year’s Day Holiday. Thursday and Friday’s collection will be delayed by one day during both weeks, with Thursday’s collection made on Friday and Friday’s collection made on Saturday.
Holiday cards and wrapping paper can go in your recycling bin loosely or in a brown paper bag with your newspapers and junk mail. Any cards or wrapping paper with glitter or metallics are not recyclable and should go in with the regular trash. Aluminum holiday cookie tins and lids can also go in your recycling bin.
Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at Glen Oaks Golf Course from December 26 through January 12, seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the east end of the clubhouse parking lot at 30500 W. Thirteen Mile, just east of Orchard Lake Road. Trees must be free of all lights, decorations, and tinsel. For more info, call 248-858-0906.
